A Helpful #LifeHack for Grocery Shopping!
This is not an #ad, this is actually just a little #lifehack for many of us that are just really busy with life. Today I did something for the 2nd time and I loved it!!! I’m not sure how many people have heard of Wal-Mart Pickup, but it is a life and timesaver. I first learned about it through the advertisement a few months back on Instagram while scrolling through my feed. However, I didn’t think much about it because in my mind I thought, ok Wal-Mart Pickup… isn’t it the same as me going in the grocery store myself and getting my own groceries?!? Not putting much thought into it or even clicking on the ad to see what the big deal is, I ignored it.
Fast forward to the end of last month, as my family and I were eating at Buffalo Wild Wings in the same parking lot as Super Wal-Mart, I noticed 10-12 designated parking spaces that no one was parked in despite it being a typical busy Saturday evening for Wal-Mart shopping. As we exited, of course I wanted to see what this “special parking” was, so we drove past. Why not right!? I’m not nosey, I just like to be informed on what’s going on around me. It’s how you learn. Change is good! Just like technology, which is what this is, we must stay in the know.
So, I decided the next morning to go online to see how the Wal-Mart Pickup works. To my surprise it was so easy!!!
- You can go online from your desktop or laptop or even download the app, whichever is easier for you.
- At the top you’ll see a hyper-link that says Wal-Mart Pickup- enter your zip code and it will show you if your Wal-Mart has it available
- Select your Wal-Mart and start shopping!
That simple.
Once you submit your order, you choose a pickup date and time beginning from 8am–8pm (in hour increments). I’m telling you this is the best thing ever. Our lives are busy, and if you’re like me, you may have a baby or teenager that is not in the mood for grocery shopping after a long day at daycare or school. Often there are times I don’t feel like walking through the grocery store myself. ESPECIALLY around Holiday’s when everyone is shopping for their own families as well and lines are wrapped around the store. And this morning I saw a Dad at pickup. Go DAD!!!!
PLUS… every time I tell my husband I’m going to Wal-Mart he looks at me funny. Mainly because he knows if I step foot in there without a list, I’ll come home with everything I did NOT need and possibly forget the items I actually needed! Then I get the “I thought you were going in there to get 5 things??” ….and I come out with a $238 receipt HA! In short, this is actually a huge money saver as well because you pick what you need and are not tempted by other things you see not knowing you needed it until you saw it. Which in all actuality you don’t need it at all, but Wal-Mart (in your mind) tells you that you just can’t pass up this great deal! Not only that, let’s say you’re on a fast or a diet, this is a great way to help you stay focused and on track.
Once your order is ready for pickup, you’ll get an email and text informing you which is great. There’s no guessing game or trying to plan around it. Also, it’s great because you won’t have to sit there for very long waiting on your items. Once the notification comes through you can select “Check-In” and let the Associate know that you are on the way. I think this feature is so cool. I you allow, it tracks your location so that it will tell the Wal-Mart Associate how far you are so your order can already be loaded in the crates awaiting your arrival. It also lets you select the color of your vehicle! How cool is this right!?! When I pulled up the Associate came right out with my order because she was notified of the color of my vehicle and that I had arrived. The first time I did the Wal-Mart Pickup I didn’t know all these features existed on the app. I just called the number directly to let them know I was there (which is an option as well). But this was sooooo much easier.
Shout-out to whomever had this idea! They need a raise or new position as the CEO of People With Busy Lives. All the features that come along with Wal-Mart Pickup make our busy lives so much simpler.
Side note—If your item is not in stock, they will substitute your item for some equal or MORE value and you will not have to pay the difference. I repeat; YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY THE DIFFERENCE.
Let me give you an example, I ordered 3ct. K-cups for my Keurig. They didn’t have the 3ct. package in stock so they replaced it with the same brand however it was replaced with an 18ct. SCORE!!!
We typically don’t purchase everything from Wal-Mart, we quite often go to Target because I LOVE a “Target Run”. I noticed the other day that Target has Shipt which I will be trying next. Whatever makes my life easier, I’m all for! I do catch myself at times ordering my items from Target and going to pick them up at lunch. However, if you’re in a time crunch, you may not have a few spare moments to run inside. I’m patiently awaiting the Target curbside pickup in our area which, ‘cross my fingers’ is coming soon.
