Here I am and here it is! I decided to start blogging (took me forever and a day!). I’ve been writing for a while now (I would say since the 3rd grade) but if I may be honest, I have been sitting on my gift. Honestly I’ve been kind of afraid to share. If “kind of” means “extremely” then YES, that’s the best way to describe it. You know, as writers or even individuals as general, we struggle with the thought of “who would actually care what I have to say”, “who would be interested in what I write about”, or even simply “am I even GOOD!?!”.

Welp… I’m at a point in my life where I can no longer put those thoughts in the forefront, but rather share my gift, how God allowed me to overcome so much, my journey now and much more. God has shown me many times that I need to share with those around me. He’s shown me through scripture that I’ve read, through sermons that I’ve heard preached and even through a conversations that I have had. A major one being my Mom. Literally every week for the past 12 plus years my mom asks me am I writing, what did I write and if not when am I going to start. She never once has stopped asking me no matter how many excuses I had. She continued to push me and encourage me. We need parents or loved ones like this.

A few years ago, I got a surprising call from an author that at even before the end of the call, it literally left me in tears and speechless. From the 30-minute long conversation, the one thing that stood out to me was him saying this: No matter what you do in life, if it’s not what God called you to do…it will never work. As I said, this was years ago and I held on to those very words and it has proven to be true.

So, as I sit here and type with my 1-year-old laying next to me napping and my 13-year-old at school, it is apparent to me what my purpose is. As a wife married to a Minister, a mother who was once labeled a ‘single mother’, now with a highly blessed ‘blended’ family and woman of strong faith in God, to having a blog ranging from inspiration, to fun facts and keeping our head above water, all while juggling 50 million things (exaggerating but sounds spot on) reaches even just 1-2 people…*wheewww catches breath*….  I know that I have served my purpose.

I read something the other day that said something along the lines of our “testimonies teach our future generations to watch expectantly for God’s faithfulness. We need to tell stories that build faith in our future generations. Besides, doesn’t the Word say that we are overcomers by the words of our testimonies… 🙂

As young women, mothers, wives, entrepreneurs and much more, I think it’s great to know that we have someone who may be going through similar situations or have gone through things that we too can relate to in a different form or fashion. Motivating one another to live our best lives, put God first, love on our husbands, children; if we are single and even single mothers (I’ve been there), making sure to LOVE ourselves. In all of this, remember we ourselves have a calling. Despite our ‘busy’, whatever it may be, tired and overwhelmed at times while supporting others and pushing them to greatness, we TOO are also called for a purpose.

Thank you so much Suzette! I felt that way as well for so long which is what hindered me. Start with today! Write what you may have done so far, plans for this current “change of living”, what you’re looking forward to, new found love for something, a hobby, etc. Once you begin writing it just begins to flow 🙂
